Many Sufi's believe to go beyond identifying themselves to a religion. "There is no Hindu, There is no Mussleman" Bhagat Kabir / or FaridTemplate:Fix.

Bhai Gurdas's Varaan also denote Sufi as a separate sect from Hinduism and Islam. Template:Fix

A theory is that many Sufis also did not follow the Koran or Islam dharam or played little importance to them but where forced by Islamist fundamentals to come under there sect after many were hanged or exiled for, one prominent occurrence is of this event is the Sufis of Bayazid School.[1]
