ਅਲ-ਮਾਰਜ

This surah gives nonbeleivers a chance to ascend to the higher way

˹through which˺ the angels and the ˹holy˺ spirit ( Judgment Day will seem like 50 000 years for a disbeliever, but it will seem like a very short period for a believer. The Prophet (ﷺ) is reported in a ḥadîth collected by Imâm Aḥmed to have said that, for the believer, this long period will be like the time they took to perform a single prayer in the world.) will ascend to Him on a Day fifty thousand years in length.

So endure ˹this denial, O Prophet,˺ with beautiful patience.

5 / Patience has levels

Consider the Day,

but We see it as inevitable/near.

On that Day the sky will be like molten brass

and the mountains like ˹tufts of˺ wool.

7 [I should consider that I am at the final Day in God's presence]

Referring to close friends,

People would be made to watch one another. The sinner would desire that he may pay a ransom to get rid of the torment that Day by (offering) his sons (in ransom)

11 / [Nonbelievers will see your friends in hell.]

Collected and hoarded.

18 / I should make sure your I am not hoarding

Indeed, humankind was created anxious/impatient/[super desiring]

19 📿

and withholding when touched with good—

except those who pray,

21 / [Beware when you're withholding and there is a chance that that thing will benefit]

Regarding those not deemed to punishment,

and those who fear the punishment of their Lord—

˹knowing that˺ none should feel secure from their Lord’s punishment—

27 📿 [I could always fall off the path]

and those who guard their chastity

except with their wives or those ˹bondwomen˺ in their possession, for then they are free from blame,

but whoever seeks beyond that are the transgressors.

˹The faithful are˺ also those who are true to their trusts and covenants;

and who are honest in their testimony;

So let them indulge ˹in falsehood˺ and amuse ˹themselves˺ until they face their Day, which they have been threatened with—

42 / Hobbies etc. are bad, especially with non-contentness about them

the Day they will come forth from the graves swiftly, as if racing to an idol ˹for a blessing˺,1

with eyes downcast, utterly covered with disgrace. That is the Day they have ˹always˺ been warned of.
