ਅਲ-ਲੇਲੀ

This surah explains how to spend time wisely.

By the night when it enshrouds,

and by the day when it breaks in its glory,

and by Him Who created the male and the female:³

surely your strivings are divergent.³ / your striving is indeed diverse.⁴

1 / Life is amazing to no end.

and ˹firmly˺ believes in the finest reward, / and affirmed the Truth of goodness

We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss.

6 / [Know nothing else except highest standards?]

[When doing a good deed you should be motivated to do another good deed afterwards?]

As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), / But as for (him) who withholds and considers himself free from need [Of doing good deeds?].

and ˹staunchly˺ denies the finest reward [heaven],

We will facilitate for them the path of hardship.

And their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they tumble ˹into Hell˺.

Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way

where none shall burn except the most wicked,

15 / God reminds us how cool life is, continuously bringing us to the right path.

the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself;

18 / Use blessings to strive forward towards Alha.

[Always live life to the fullest, recognize gifts from Alha, and don't hesitate to consume to the satisfactory ends?

This is a curse towards appreciation? Use the fruits to strive forward towards Alha]

he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity – / Do not seek reward for your good deeds

not as payment for favours received

but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest / but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High

19 / [If you receive money for doing good deeds give it away.

Only do accounting with the most high?

Maybe try to spend all your money towards other's growing in purity / towards good deeds]
